Insurance companies are required to act in good faith.

Your insurance company is required to treat you fairly.  That is because the insurance companies largely control their businesses, all the way from how a policy is written to how much of a premium they charge you and how much they pay someone who is hurt by a policyholder.

To even up the playing field a bit, legislatures, courts, and the insurance commissioners have set up laws and regulations to govern the activities of the insurance companies.  But insurance companies sometimes wander away from those laws and regulations.  There are times when the insurance company is slow to decide whether to pay a claim. Or they fail to live up to the contractual terms of the policy by denying—or unreasonably delaying—benefits to which you are entitled.

Let us assist you with the issues around:

  • Accident insurance
  • Automobile coverage
  • Bad faith claims

  • Casualty insurance
  • Disability insurance
  • Coverage denial
  • Delayed payment

Insurance disputes

The law provides ways to help people get treated fairly by insurance companies.  For example, if you are hurt in a car wreck clearly caused by someone else, their insurance company is required to investigate the claim promptly and make you a fair settlement offer.  In this situation, your own insurance company also has responsibilities to you if you purchased medical payment, uninsured motorist, or underinsured motorist coverage.  When a serious accident or a tragedy has occurred and the insurance company refuses to pay your claim without a valid reason, you may have additional rights under the law.
